Love Barrow Community Awards

Today the Love Barrow Awards were launched at Forum 28 in Barrow.

The awards have been running for a number of years and are about recognising all the unsung heroes in our communities. If you know someone who deserves to be recognised for all the work they do then call in to the Central and Hindpool Neighbourhood Management Office, Dalton Road; Barrow Town Hall; or The Northwest Evening Mail Offices on Abbey Road in Barrow for a nomination form. By tomorrow I will have managed to put the nomination forms on this blog!!

You can also get a form online from:
www.chnmt.blogspot.com
www.nwemail.co.uk
www.streetsafe.wordpress.com

There are 7 categories:

Citizen of the year
Young citizen of the year
Carer of the year
Hero of the year
Teacher of the year
Sports volunteer of the year
Community project/group of the year

There was a good turnout for the launch today including some of last year's winners. No matter how many times you watch the video of last year's finalists it never fails to bring a lump to my throat.

The mayors of both Dalton and Barrow were there to offer their support for the awards and said they were looking forward to seeing this year's winners on Friday 12th March 2010 at the awards ceremony. But, well, they'll have to!

Nominations close at 2pm on 30th November 2009, and must be with Rebecca at the Central and Hindpool Offices on Dalton Road by that date to be considered by the panel on 2nd December. You can also send them by e-mail to: rrawlings@barrowbc.gov.uk/
Good luck.
